The Palakkad – Tirunelveli Paalaruvi Express Train suffered a detention of nearly three hours near Bhagavathipuram railway station in the small hours of Wednesday after a tree fell on the railway track.

When the Palakkad – Tirunelveli Paalaruvi Express was crossing Utkonam near Bhagavathipuram railway station around 3.30 a.m. on Wednesday, the engine pilot saw an uprooted tree falling across the railway track and stopped the train immediately. After the Bhagavathipuram Railway Station officials were alerted, a team rushed to the spot.

Since it was raining at that time, efforts to remove the tree could not be started immediately. After the rain relented to some extent, the fallen tree was sliced and removed to ensure the train’s journey towards Tirunelveli.

Consequently, the express train, which would usually reach Shencottai Station at 3.50 a.m., entered the station at 6.50 a.m. and then left for Tirunelveli.
