Voicing their protest against a privatisation move, members of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation Staff Federation (TTSF) staged a demonstration in front of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) Head Office on Bypass Road here on Friday.

N. Mariappan, president of TTSF, Madurai division, led the demonstration by around 150 persons. They sought early settlement of superannuation benefits to those who retired or obtained voluntary retirement, and benefits in case of death of employees.

Pending dearness allowance, provident fund and gratuity settlement should be settled without delay, they said.

They urged the TNSTC to issue confirmation orders to employees of the reserve crew on completion of 240 days of service. There was a delay of at least four years to issue the confirmation, they claimed. The protestors urged that movement of share autorickshaws and mini buses in the city should be regulated and private and omni buses should be restricted to Mattuthavani and Arapalayam bus stands.

State treasurer S. Sampath, general secretary T. Thirumalaisamy and divisional general secretary S. Murugesan spoke.
