Traffic diversion in Maduraifor Chief Minister’s visit

Owing to Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s visit to Madurai on Sunday, Madurai city police have announced traffic diversions for buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles.

The Chief Minister is laying foundation stones for the construction of a flyover at Kalavasal junction and for a party office in Paravai in the morning. He proceeds to Virudhunagar later. In the evening, the Chief Minister is inaugurating a bicycle rally by AIADMK near Viraganoor junction.

From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A statement issued by Madurai city police said that the following diversions will be in place for heavy vehicles from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.:

The vehicles plying from MGR Bus Stand to Sivaganga must go via Lake View Road, Melamadai junction, Sivaganga Road junction, Karuppayurani. Those going to MGR Bus Stand from Sivaganga must take the Karuppayurani, Sivaganga Road junction, and Pandikoil junction.

Those plying from MGR Bus Stand to Tiruppuvanam, Paramakudi, and Ramanathapuram must go via Lake View Road, Suguna Stores junction, Teppakulam junction and Viraganoor junction. Those coming to MGR Bus Stand from these places must take the same route.

The vehicles plying from MGR Bus Stand to Aruppukkottai, Kariapatti, Tiruchendur and Thoothukudi must go via K.K. Nagar arch, Aavin junction, Panagal Road, Albert Victor bridge, East Veli Street, South Gate junction, Villapuram, Avaniapuram, Perungudi, and Chinna Udaippu. Those coming to MGR Bus Stand from these places must take the same route.

Those plying from MGR Bus Stand to Tirumangalam, Virudhunagar, Rajapalayam and Tirunelveli must go via K.K. Nagar arch, Aavin junction, Panagal Road, Albert Victor bridge, East Veli Street, South Gate junction, Palanganatham, and Tirupparankundram.

Those coming from the above places to MGR Bus Stand must take Kappalur, Nagamalai Pudukkottai road junction, Thuvariman junction, Virattipathu, Kalavasal junction, New Jail Road, Simmakkal, MGR Bridge, Palam Station Road, Goripalayam junction, Gokhale Road, and Melur Road.

The vehicles plying from Melur towards Ramanathapuram, Aruppukkottai and Tirunelveli must take the Sivaganga Road junction, Tiruppuvanam, Poovanthi, Meenakshipuram, and Aruppukkottai Road junction.

From 7 a.m. to 11 a.m

According to the statement, the following traffic diversions for heavy vehicles will be in place from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Vehicles going to Periyar Bus Stand or Arapalayam from Theni Main Road via Kalavasal junction must go via Nagamalai Pudukottai, Austinpatti Road junction, Thanakkankulam junction, Thoppur junction, Tirupparankundram, Palanganatham, Periyar Bus Stand, West Veli Street, North Veli Street, Madura Coats bridge, and Arapalayam Cross Road.

Vehicles going to Periyar Bus Stand or Arapalayam from Dindigul Bypass Road and Koodal Nagar via Kalavasal junction must take the Fatima College roundabout, Thathaneri Main Road, Aruldosspuram, Arapalayam Bus Stand, Arapalayam Cross Road, Madura Coats Bridge, and West Veli Street.

Those going from Periyar Bus Stand towards Vadipatti and Samayanallur must take Ellis Nagar Main road, Bypass Road, Kalavasal junction, Melakkal Road, Kochadai, and Thuvariman.
