Top police official reviews security in three districts

Following ‘development’ in Jammu and Kashmir

Additional Director General of Police (Economic Offences Wing) Abhay Kumar Singh on Monday reviewed the security arrangements in the city and also in Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanniyakumari districts in the wake of the passage of Jammu and Kashmir reorganisation Bill and annulment of Article 370.

Mr. Singh, who arrived here on Monday evening, held discussions with Commissioner of Police, Tirunelveli City, N. Baskaran, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tirunelveli Range, Praveen Kumar Abhinapu and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order), Tirunelveli City S. Saravanan and reviewed the security arrangements at ‘vulnerable points’.

One company of Tamil Nadu Special Police also arrived here in the evening as part of the stepped-up security arrangements in the city.

Asked if there was any specific intelligence inputs from the Union Government, Mr. Singh said he was reviewing the security arrangements in this region following the “development” and no intelligence inputs had been received.
