Three youth were killed in a road accident near Sankarankovil on Sunday night.

Police said Ramar Pandi, 25, of Narikkudi under Panaivadalichathram police station limits, and his friends Samudhrapandi, 25, and Aravind Raj, 25, were going to Sankarankovil on a bike on Sunday night for a movie. When they were about to enter Sankarankovil, another bike hit the two-wheeler, in which Ramar Pandi, Samudhrapandi, Aravind Raj and Abdul Khader, a broiler trader from Sankarankovil, who was riding the other bike, suffered serious injuries.

While Ramar Pandi and Samudhrapandi died on the spot, Aravind Raj and Abdul Khader were rushed to the Sankarankovil Government Hospital.

However, Aravind Raj breathed his last on the way to the hospital and Abdul Khader was referred to the Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital after first-aid was given at Sankarankovil Government Hospital.

During investigation, police found that Ramar Pandi, a labourer working in Kerala, had come to Narikkudi to cast his vote in the Lok Sabha election last Thursday and Samudhrapandi, an engineering student, had also come to his native place for the same purpose. Aravind Raj was running an electrical shop at nearby Vannikonenthal.

Chinnakovilaankulam police have registered a case.
