Three houses burgled in Samayanallur


Unidentified persons broke into three houses under Samayanallur police sub-division and decamped with ₹3 lakh worth properties, including 26 sovereigns of gold, on Wednesday.

The police said that two houses, those of a father and son, in an apartment in Boothakudi under Alanganallur police station limits, were burgled when the family members had left the houses locked for Courtallam on Wednesday.

The police said that R. Paramasivan, 64, and his son, P. Ramachandran,39, who were involved in construction business, were living two different houses in the same apartment in Munnamalai Nagar.

Both families had left for Courtallam on Wednesday afternoon. On Thursday morning, their tenant in the same building, had noticed that their houses were broken open and alerted the landlord.

Upon reaching home, the owners found that 19 sovereigns of gold was missing from the father’s house and six sovereigns of gold from Ramachandran’s house.

The police suspect that someone who knew the movement of the families could have struck the houses within a short period in an apartment that had 10 houses.

Meanwhile, another break-in was reported in another locked house at AIBEA Colony in Paravai under Samayanallur police station limits on Wednesday.

The police said that son of A. Ramasamy, 74, of Elumalai, who was working in Dubai, had left his house at AIBEA colony locked.

Ramasamy used to periodically visit the house. He had last visited on Wednesday. Meanwhile, unidentified persons had gained entry into the house by breaking the front door and laid their hands on 10 grams of gold, one LED TV set, a fan and an electric stove.

The police said that in all the cases, the house owners had left the keys of the almirahs in the house that made the task of the thieves easier.
