A school teacher was stabbed to death allegedly by his brother-in-law near Pudur Government Higher Secondary School on Monday. The accused was arrested by the police.

Vadivel Murugan, a 40-year-old teacher at the Block Resources Centre on the school campus, was working as usual, when his brother-in-law Austin alias Arputha Selvam visited him around afternoon.

Their conversation soon developed into a heated argument. Austin then allegedly stabbed him with a knife said to be hidden in his possession.

Onlookers, who clicked pictures of the incident, were reluctant to help the victim, who died on the spot.

Vadivel, a resident of Vadhuvarpatti in Virudhunagar district, remarried another woman from Aruppukottai after separating from his first wife and Austin’s sister.

Married for five years, they were living separately for the past three years owing to difference of opinion. The couple have a four-year-old child.

Pudur police are investigating the murder.
