A ‘Swayamvaram’ to benefit the differently abled will be organised in Madurai on August 9 by Differently Abled Women’s Welfare Association.
Speaking about the event, M. Kamakshi, president of the association, said that it was the third year that they were organising the event in the city.
“Persons who are not differently abled are also welcome to register for the ‘swayamvaram.’
It has been heartening to note that there are many who have sought a companion among differently abled persons over the years,” she said.

“In the last two years, 77 couples have been united through our initiative,” she added.
To register for the event, Ms. Kamakshi said that those interested could get the application form from the association office at 17/W 11/12 Veerappa Pulavar Colony, Jawaharpuram, K. Pudur, and submit it by July 15.
They can also collect the form from the Madurai Lion’s Club premises, which houses Welfare Association for the Differently Abled, at 87 A Swami Vivekananda Nagar in Surveyor Colony.
