‘Stop new pension scheme’

Putting forth a set of 15 demands, Tamil Nadu Government Employees’ Union president K. Balasubramanian said that State government employees should be given bonus on a par with Central government employees. He demanded that the government should stop the new pension scheme and fill vacancies.

He announced that the union had planned to submit petitions to the Collectors of all districts in the State stressing their demands on November 4. “On November 11, we have planned to organise a massive protest in Chennai by mobilising thousands of State government employees,” he said.

People working under Swachh Bharat project in panchayats have not been paid salaries for the past six months. The government should disburse the arrears immediately, he said.

“The State government has not fulfilled any promises made to the employees and how can the government call itself pro-poor. New recruitments, transfers and promotions should be brought under Lok Ayukta,” he said.
