Sterlite cases may be taken up in December first week

MADURAI

Senior counsel representing Vedanta, who appeared at the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Thursday, wanted to know when the petitions pertaining to Sterlite Copper would be listed for hearing.

Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court Vineet Kothari had directed the High Court Registry to list the petitions pertaining to Sterlite Copper before the Division Bench of Justices T.S. Sivagnanam and V. Bhavani Subbaroyan. The Bench had already heard the petitions extensively.

The Acting Chief Justice’s direction reversed the order passed by former Chief Justice Vijaya Kamlesh Tahilramani, who had directed that the petitions be listed before a Division Bench of Justices T.S. Sivagnanam and R. Tharani at the High Court Bench.

Justice T.S. Sivagnanam asked if the counsel could wait till December as he was deputed to the High Court Bench till December as the Administrative Judge. He said the cases could be taken up in the first week of December and he would consult the Acting Chief Justice in this regard.
