A Sub-Inspector of Police attached to R.S. Mangalam police station in the district, Pandi, has been placed under suspension after a video clip of him demanding electrical goods ‘for the office of the Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters)’ in a two-wheeler showroom went viral in social media.

After the incident was brought to her knowledge, Deputy Inspector General of Police (Ramanathapuram range) N. Kamini ordered an enquiry, and the suspension of Pandi on Wednesday after finding prima facie in the charge. The DIG had ordered a detailed enquiry and based on the outcome of the enquiry departmental action, if necessary, would be initiated against Pandi, the police said.

The video clip showed Pandi visiting the two-wheeler showroom in R.S. Mangalam and demanding supply of electrical goods worth about ₹ 29,000 stating that they were required for the office of the Additional Superintendent of Police (Headquarters).
