Second phase of ‘Aadhaar’ card enrolment soon

The second phase of enrolment for ‘Aadhaar’ cards in all wards of the Madurai Corporation will be launched soon.

During the drive, the Corporation will cover those who were leftover in the first phase and also those who would be enrolling in the wards where the process was not undertaken till now.

A special training programme was conducted for assistant revenue officers, sanitary inspectors and tax collectors in the corporation building here on Wednesday.

R. Nanthagopal, Corporation Commissioner, made a surprise visit to the Aadhaar card (National Identity Card) registration and enrolment centres in Ward 93 in Zone-4. He went to the enrolment centres in TVS Nagar, Mother Teresa Nursing College and Muthupatti Corporation Primary School.

The Commissioner had personally applied for the National Identity Card during his visit, according to a press release.

Mr. Nanthagopal said that the first phase of enrolment is getting over and the second phase would be undertaken shortly. In the training programme, the participants were explained the procedure to fill up the Aadhaar card application form.

A. Devadoss, Assistant Commissioner, Mathi Alaguraj, Corporation Education Officer, and Kannappan, Census Officer, were among those present during the training session.
