The famous Coutralam Falls have started receiving copious rainwater resulting in heavy influx of tourists since Saturday evening, marking the start of the four-month long ‘saral’ season.

With the catchment areas receiving rains, all the eight falls, including the main one, were getting copious water much to the joy of tourists.

Officials said the climate in Courtalam, about 60 km from here, was pleasant following sharp showers.

The sky was overcast on Sunday, providing the perfect setting for the weekend tourists, who came in large numbers.

The season is named ‘saaral’ (drizzle) as the picturesque falls, located in Western Ghats, experiences cool breeze accompanied by intermittent drizzle and sunlight.
