The fishermen of Ramanathapuram district kept off from venturing into the sea for the second consecutive day on Tuesday due to continuation of rough weather.

Although the mechanised boat fishermen would not go for fishing on Tuesdays as per the three-day fishing system per week, the fishermen of artisanal and country boat did not sail citing violent waves.

Hundreds of boats based at Pamban, Mandapam, Kilakarai, Periapattinam have been berthed at their respective locations.

They said that the sea was worse than it was the previous day.

Fisheries department officials said that the tokens would be given to the fishermen of trawlers on Wednesday depending upon the weather condition.
