Robbery at former
V-C’s house
Robbers decamped with 50 sovereigns of gold from a locked house at MVM Nagar, second street, here on Wednesday.
Police said, the incident was reported at the residence of P. Kanniappan, former Vice-Chancellor of Alagappa University, Karaikudi.
Prof. Kanniappan and his family had locked the house and left on Wednesday, preliminary inquiries revealed. Upon returning on Thursday morning, the front door of the house was found broken open and the jewellery missing.
The Dindigul West police lifted fingerprints from the scene of crime. Sniffer dog was deployed. Further investigation is on.
