District Collector M. Vijayalakshmi held a review meeting on borewells here on Friday, in which officials from the departments concerned and licensed owners of borewell drilling vehicles, participated.

The Collector stated that 1,640 abandoned borewells have been converted to rainwater harvesting structures in the district so far.

The Collector appealed to the owners of borewell drilling vehicles to ensure before drilling a borewell that all parameters are met such as the size and type of the borewell and that the area should be cordoned off while the borewell was being dug. She added that land owners should obtain proper permission from the local administration.

People can inform regarding uncovered borewells on 0451-2460320 and 0451-1077 or through WhatsApp on 7598866000.
