Regulations for vehicles proceeding to Pasumpon for Thevar jayanthi



Virudhunagar district administration has laid down various conditions for the vehicles proceeding from the district to Pasumpon on October 30 in connection with Thevar jayanthi.

Chairing a consultation meeting on the birth anniversary celebration of freedom fighter, Muthuramalinga Thevar here on Monday, the Collector said that vehicles should proceed only on the permitted route after getting passes from the district police on submitting all relevant records.

Since the Ramanathapuram district administration has promulgated prohibitory order under Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure, hired vehicles, two-wheelers and cargo vehicles would not be allowed to ferry people to Pasumpon.

People should not take out procession and should not carry any weapons, crackers, liquor bottles. No permission is given for loud speakers. The vehicles should not have any flags, posters or banners that could incite religious or casteist enmity.

The statement added that no permission would be granted for taking out sprouts procession and torch run.

Permitted routes

Vehicles proceeding from Sattur, Rajapalayam, Srivilliputtur, Sivakasi, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kovilpatti should go via Aruppukottai, Gandhi Nagar, Kalloorani, M. Reddiyapatti, Mandapasalai, Kanavilakku, Kamuthi and Pasumpon and return on the same route.

Vehicles from Aaviyur, Kariyapatti, Mallankinaru and Kalkurichi should take the same route after going via Palayampatti by-pass road.

Vehicles coming from Tiruchuli should go through Kanavilakku, Kilamarthupatti and Kamuthi. Vehicles from Narikudi should go through Veeracholan junction, Pidariseri, Parthibanur, Abiramam and Pasumpon.

On return direction, they should take Kottaimedu, Nagaratharkurichi and Abiramam route.

People should not rent out their private vehicles and the owners of the vehicles should be present in the vehicle.

The district administration has made additional bus facilities to Pasumpon on October 29 and 30.

No flex board should be erected anywhere in the district. Besides, no permission would be given for public address system for local functions.

Virudhunagar Superintendent of Police, M. Rajarajan, District Revenue Officer, K. Udhayakumar, Sivakasi Sub-Collector, C. Dinesh Kumar, Personal Assistant (General) to Collector, Chezhiyan, Additional SP, Marirajan, were among those who took part.
