Veteran Congress leader Kumari Ananthan said that he would take out a large-scale awareness rally to ensure that Public Distribution System (PDS) shops supply hand pounded rice and unpolished rice instead of white rice to promote a healthy lifestyle.

“There are over 30,000 PDS shops in Tamil Nadu. The government must ensure that it did good for the people and there was proper nutritional value and health in the food they consumed,” he said.

He added that the rally would focus on banning alcohol consumption and its ill effects.

“The date of the rally will be determined based on number of interested parties,” he said.
