Police oppose DMK’s plea

October 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - MADURAI:

The Madurai city police have vehemently opposed a plea made by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam Madurai district secretary P. Moorthy to permit his party cadres to hold a demonstration in front of Corporation building here against its alleged mismanagement.

Filing a counter affidavit before the Madras High Court Bench here, Tallakulam Assistant Commissioner of Police S.P. Gandhimadhinathan contended that granting permission for demonstration on a busy road might bring the entire traffic to standstill and cause great hardship to public. Justice R. Mala has posted the case for further hearing on Thursday.
