The District Crime Branch (DCB) police retrieved 10 acres of land, valued at Rs. 6.35 crore in the market, from those who had illegally grabbed it. Speaking to reporters, Superintendent of Police Asra Garg said here on Tuesday that following complaint from a realtor of Iyer Bungalow, a case was registered. According to the complainant, Moideen, son of Sheik, he used to buy land and sell it as housing plots. In 1996, he bought 3.76 acres from four persons in Kusavankundu and Kuthiraikuthikulam near Perungudi and sold them to different people in 2000.

Later, Moideen realised that a gang led by Kusavankundu panchayat president Veeranan had prepared fake documents for the property and had sold the plots to different persons in 2004, after the price of the land had escalated manifold. The police arrested Veeranan and four others.
