A Plus Two student has been arrested for alleged sexual assault on a class X girl student of his school at Alangulam in the district.
The police said the 17-year-old Plus Two student took the girl to his house at Anna Nagar in Alangulam on Monday and sexually assaulted her. As the boy’s neighbours who came to his house at that time noticed this, they alerted others. Since the girl’s aunt, in whose house the victim is living as her parents are working in Kerala as labourers, came to know of the incident, she filed a complaint with Alangulam police.
After interrogation, the police arrested the boy on Tuesday night under the provisions of the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and lodged him in the juvenile observation home here.
