Members of All India Democratic Students’ Organisation (AIDSO) staged a demonstration here on Thursday, demanding reintroduction of pass-fail system from Class I in all the schools.

The members alleged that the removal of the pass-fail system had degraded the quality of education. There were students reaching Class 8 even without basic knowledge. Stating that the degradation had already resulted in closure of hundreds of government schools, the organisation said that continuing with the ‘no retention’ system would result in collapse of public-funded schooling.

The members said that similar demonstrations and rallies were staged across the country the same day.
