Plea for CBI enquiry into MKU’s e-content development programme

The petitioner alleged that various grave irregularities had taken place in the implementation of the e-content development programme.

A petition has been filed in the Madras High Court Bench here seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) enquiry into alleged misappropriation of funds in implementing e-content development programme for Directorate of Distance Education of Madurai Kamaraj University.

When the public interest litigation petition filed by advocate S. Vanchinathan of People’s Right Protection Centre came up before a Division Bench of Justices A. Selvam and V.S. Ravi on Thursday, it ordered notice to the CBI, Higher Education Secretary and the university Registrar returnable by July 10.

In his affidavit, the petitioner alleged that various grave irregularities had taken place in the implementation of the e-content development programme during the tenure of the university’s former vice-chancellor Kalyani Mathivanan who had reportedly acted in collusion with a few Syndicate members.
