Over 5000 students from about 160 schools in and around the city participated in the Sangampex 2018, a two-day district-level philately exhibition, which began at the MADITSSIA Auditorium here on Monday. The event, which focuses on rare and thematic stamp collections, is organised by the Department of Posts.

It included a stamp exhibition and a workshop on philately.

Special covers emphasising the themes of culture and heritage were also released at the event.

A unique contest, ‘Story of Stamp,’ testing the knowledge of personalities or events depicted on stamps, was organised for schoolchildren.

The programme was inaugurated by Neenu Ittyerah, Divisional Railway Manager, and Vennam Upender, Postmaster General, Southern Region. N. Shriharsha, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, welcomed the gathering.
