Paper cup making unit inaugurated

A paper cup and plate making unit, funded under the National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM), was inaugurated by Mayor V. V. Rajan Chellappa at Milagaranai on Friday.

The paper plate making unit is the fifth one to come up in Madurai Corporation under the NLUM.

Four other units, including a bakery and also a readymade garments unit, have been started in different places for the benefit of women self-help group members.

The NULM has facilitated the starting of 752 SHGs so far and 40 federations have been formed with 10 SHGs as members for each federation, according to an official press release.

Those present at the inaugural function included C. Kathiravan, Corporation Commissioner, and Tamizharasan, MLA.
