The police are on the look for some unknown person who lifted two ‘panchaloka' idols from famous Sankaranarayanar temple at Nattalam in the early hours of Tuesday.

According to police sources, the theft came to light when the temple priest came to open the door. The miscreants entered into the sanctum sanctorum of the temple by breaking all the locks of the temple gate and lifted two panchaloga idols including Sankaranarayanar and Krishna idols along with silver ‘angi' and other puja materials. The temple has been under the control of the Department of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowment.

Based on the complaint lodged by the temple priest, the police have registered a case and are further investigating.
