Asserting that the Department of Customs never harasses innocents, Customs Commissioner of Tiruchi Region, Ranjan Kumar has said that his department has registered more than 350 cases of smuggling in southern region during last year.

Speaking to reporters here on Monday after inaugurating the solar panels powering customs offices at Kanniyakumari, Kulasekaranpattinam and Thoothukudi, Mr. Ranjan Kumar said the cases being registered in connection with smuggling of gold, drugs, foreign currencies etc. were being probed in a highly professional manner and hence the officials would never harass the innocents in the guise of investigation.
