Organs harvested from youth

Doctors at Government Rajaji Hospital here harvested organs of a 22-year-old from Theni’s G. Kallupatti here on Sunday.

The patient, who met with an accident on April 12 while travelling between Batlagundu and Kallupatti, received first aid in a nearby hospital and was rushed to GRH.

He was shifted to the trauma care ward on April 13 but was declared dead the next day due to complications. After informing the family and following necessary procedures, the patient’s two kidneys, liver and corneas were harvested. The liver and a kidney were donated to private hospitals in Madurai and Tiruchi.
