T. G. Vinay who took charge as Collector here on Monday said he would work towards better water conservation and rainwater harvesting.

Speaking to reporters, the Collector said he would ensure that the Chief Minister’s special public grievances redressal programme which entailed uploading of petitions from public for redressal within a month will be implemented. He would look into providing pattas for those living on poramboke land after their papers were verified. Prime Minister’ s Housing for All scheme and the Chief Minister's Solar powered green house scheme would also be implemented, he said.

His first posting was in Namakkal as Sub-Collector in 2009. He worked as Additional Collector (Development) for Karur district and was later promoted as Deputy Commissioner, Revenue and Finance, Chennai Corporation. He has served as Collector in Dindigul and Ariyalur districts.

A native of Tumakuru, Karnataka, the Collector is a certified medical practitioner. He is Madurai's fourth Collector in 16 months.
