MP to pursue disproportionate wealth case against Rajenthra Bhalaji

Says will move Apex Court seeking CBI probe

Virudhunagar MP, B. Manickam Tagore on Tuesday said that he would take up disproportionate wealth case pending against Minister for Dairy Development K.T. Rajenthra Bhalaji up to Supreme Court seeking a fair probe into it.

Inspecting the basic facilities at Sivakasi and Tiruthangal Railway stations here, Mr. Tagore said that it was Mr. Bhalaji who was attempting to stall a road overbridge proposed a few years back at Tiruthangal.

The Union Railway Department has given a reply in the Parliament that though the project was in-principle sanctioned in 2015-16, the State Government has been making changes in the alignment of the ROB twice in the last few years and thereby the project is not getting started.

“I will write to the Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palaniswami, who is in-charge of the Highways Department seeking his intervention on the issue and start the work at the earliest,” he said.

Stating that Mr. Bhalaji was facing disproportionate wealth case, Mr. Tagore said that only to escape from this case Mr. Bhalaji was making “weird” comments to keep Bharatiya Janata Party leadership in a good humour.

After State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Wing had given a clean chit to Mr. Bhalaji in the DA case, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court had ordered it to probe his source of income since his days as Vice-Chairman of Tiruthangal municipality.

“It looks like the State Vigilance was not giving a proper report to the High Court. We hope the High Court transfers the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a fair probe,” Mr. Tagore said.

Only on Monday Congress party functionaries lodged a police complaint against Mr. Bhalaji for allegedly handing out a threat to the life of Mr. Tagore during his address at a party meeting organised at Sattur on September 21.
