Mother of the 14-year-old Schedule Caste schoolboy, who was slashed with a blade by a caste Hindu student at Maravarpatti near Palamedu on Friday, submitted a petition to Collector T.G. Vinay here on Monday, demanding protection from caste Hindus.
The woman said their family was being threatened by caste Hindus as they had registered a police case against the caste Hindu student. “They are saying I cannot enter the village. We only filed a complaint because I did not want this to happen to other children from our community,” she said.
She also sought compensation for the mental stress experienced by her family and for the medical expenditure for her son.
Dr. Vinay said he would ask revenue and police officials to intervene at the earliest.
