Progressive farmers in southern districts who have ideas in groundwater conservation and recharging have been invited to participate in the International Ground Water Conference being hosted by Yadava College here from September 27.
The organising committee of the conference has extended its invitation so that the grass root innovators who are successful farmers with progressive ideas in water conservation will be able to share their experiences and demonstrate their new thinking.
“We are expecting at least 40 farmers to attend this conference. Also, the abstracts of the conference proceedings and ideas shared by experts will be translated into Tamil and copies given to farmers for their understanding,” P. S. Navaraj, Dean (Academic Affairs), Yadava College and organising secretary of the conference, told The Hindu on Wednesday.
He said that top scientists and groundwater management experts from the National Ground Water Research Institute and Central Water Commission besides scientists from leading research institutes in the country are participating in the four-day conference here from September 27 to 30.
Interested farmers can approach Dr. Navaraj in Yadava College. Registration is free.
