‘Bullet’ Kumaran, who had absconded with his wife and four sons after the Zam Bazaar police in Chennai launched a hunt for them in connection with ‘Market’ Murali murder case, surrendered before the Judicial Magistrate Court here on Tuesday with one of his sons.
M. Kumaran, a former aide of the deceased, went absconding with his wife Santhi and four sons after allegedly murdering Murali, who had gone to his house in Triplicane on September 22 to invite him for a temple festival. Police said that the murder was the fallout of enmity between the two.
Even as the police launched a search, Kumaran (49) and his son Vikram Kumar (24) surrendered before Judicial Magistrate-I through their counsel G. Kesavan. Magistrate N. Veluchamy remanded them in judicial custody till October 20. At the end of the judicial remand, the two accused should be produced before the 14th Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Egmore, the Magistrate said.
Kumaran and his son were taken to Madurai Central Jail.
