S. Subburaj (52) allegedly committed suicide by hanging at his house near Tirumangalam on Tuesday minutes after he heard that his wife, Subbulakshmi (50), who had committed self-immolation a couple of days ago, succumbed to burns on Tuesday.
The police said that the man, a drunkard often used to pick a quarrel with his wife. The frustrated woman set herself ablaze at her house in Vidathakulam under the Tirumangalam taluk police station limits on Sunday.
The woman was admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital. The Tirumangalam Taluk police are investigating.
