Kottampatti police have arrested a 70-year-old man, Baskaran, on the charge of murdering his elder son B. Meyyar over land dispute. The police are on the lookout for his younger son, Anbazhagan, in this connection.

Meyyar was found lying unconscious in front of his house at Ayyapatti on Friday night. He was admitted to a private hospital in Singampuneri and later shifted to Government Rajaji Hospital here. He died on Thursday. The police had initially registered a case of suspicious death. However, his wife complained that her husband was done to death by Baskaran and Anbazhagan over land dispute. The post-mortem report said the death was due to internal injury in head.

Investigations revealed that instigated by Baskaran, Anbazhagan hit Meyyar on the head with a club, Inspector of Police (Kottampatti in-charge) Ramasamy said.
