Lankan Navy arrests four fishermen

The Sri Lankan has arrested four Rameswaram fishermen with their vessel on charges of trespassing into the Lankan waters after crossing the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL) while fishing.

Reports received here said that the fishermen who set out for fishing on Monday were fishing on the high seas near Delft island when the navy arrested them in the afternoon and took them to the Kankesanthurai naval base for questioning.

The arrested fishermen were identified as Murugesan, 47, Naveen, 35, Anand, 42, and Senthilpandi, 43. They are likely to be produced before the Kayts court for judicial remand, the reports said.
