Land grab case against DMK councillor

One more case of land grab was slapped against the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam councillor, V.K. Gurusamy, and seven others on Saturday.

The police said that S. Raja and others kidnapped one jeweller, A. Mahendran, who owed Rs. 4.5 lakh to him in 2009.

They took him to the Corporation East Zone office, where Gurusamy forced Mahendran to sign a pre-dated document to pledge his house, a statement said.

The then District Registrar, S. Annamalai, helped to register a document of transferring the property in favour of one S. R. Gobi alias Gopalakrishnan. The police have arrested S. Raja, S. Kumar and one Sankarachari.

The police have booked a case under various Sections of Indian Penal Code for forgery, kidnap, wrongful confinement, extortion, conspiracy and threatening.

Goondas Act

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam functionary Minnal Kodi, who has been arrested in land grab cases, was on Saturday booked under Goondas Act.

Collector, U. Sagayam, ordered his arrest under the Goondas Act, based on a recommendation made by the Superintendent of Police, Asra Garg. Minnal Kodi was arrested in two land grab cases.
