A labourer was killed and two others seriously injured after earth caved when they were deepening a well near Palani on Sunday.
Police said that seven workers of Madathukulam were involved in the work at the irrigation well of Ravi at Puliyampatti when the earth caved in and buried three workers. Other workers rushed to their rescue.
However, Eswaran died at the spot while Periyasamy and Vadivel were admitted to the Government Hospital in Palani.
Periyasamy was later shifted to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai.
Palani Taluk police are investigating.
