A day ahead of Lok Sabha election 2019 process starting with filing of nominations, Madurai City police and Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel took out a flag march on Monday.

Carrying INSAS and Carbine rifles, one company of ITBP personnel and lathi-wielding city police personnel began the march from Bibikulam junction to instil a sense of security to the voters. The flag march wound through the arterial roads such as P.T. Rajan Road in Tallakulam, 50 Feet Road and 60 Feet Road in Sellur and the thoroughfares of Anaiyur.

The ITBP company, comprising 85 men and officials, has arrived from Rai Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. “We have come here with weapons and crowd control equipment. We will be here for the election-related bandobust work till counting day,” said ITBP Assistant Commandant Ajay Pal Singh.
