The Department of Posts has added one more facility – India Post Payment Bank – at its Palayamkottai Head Post Office.
Similar facility was also created at Kalakkad sub-post office, Pathai branch post office, Padalayarkulam branch post office and Singampathu branch post office after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated it through videoconferencing from New Delhi on Saturday.
In a simple function organised here, Rajya Sabha MPs Vijila Sathyananth and S. Muthukaruppan and Palayamkottai MLA T.P.M. Mohideen Khan lighted the traditional lamp to mark the inauguration of the new facility.
Customers can open the account at the counters of these post offices or through the postmen designated for these areas. Account holders can transfer funds, deposit / withdraw money, recharge or pay the bills through these accounts besides enjoying doorstep banking services through the postmen.
Accounts with the Indian Post Payment Bank can be opened with Aadhaar card, mobile phone and with their fingerprints. There is no need to maintain minimum balance in these accounts.
A quick response card-like ATM card will be provided to the account holders for banking transactions. Banking at customers’ convenience, instant and paperless account opening, 4% interest rate, no minimum balance maintenance, free quarterly account statement, mini statement through SMS etc. are some of the salient features of India Post Payment Bank.
