January 10, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 09:25 am IST - MADURAI:

The Madras High Court Bench here on Friday summoned health department officials in the district to ascertain their stand on a review application filed by a social activist accusing them of not having controlled mosquitoes causing dengue and chikungunya.

A Division Bench of Justices S. Tamilvanan and V.S. Ravi directed the officials to be present in the court on Monday. The order was passed on the application filed by K.K. Ramesh, Managing Trustee, Tamil Nadu Centre for Public Interest Litigation, a private organisation.

The petitioner had accused the officials of having provided wrong details to the court last year in reply to a public interest litigation petition filed by him seeking a direction to control the mosquito menace.
