The Madras High Court Bench here on Thursday dismissed a contempt of court application filed and argued by an individual hailing from Tiruchi against Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, the Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, Director General of Police, Tiruchi Commissioner of Police and government advocate K. Anbarasan.

The applicant, R. Vijaykumar (60), had accused the Chief Minister and others of not complying with the orders issued by the Supreme Court in April 2011, directing all State governments to curb kangaroo courts. He alleged that Tiruchi police had indulged in such illegal activity while dealing with a criminal complaint lodged by him.

A Division Bench comprising Justice V. Ramasubramanian and Justice V.M. Velumani rejected the contempt application on the ground that they were not convinced with the reasons adduced by the petitioner for entertaining it.
