The Madras High Court Bench here on Tuesday closed an anticipatory bail application filed by T. Poovaiah, personal assistant of former Agriculture Minister ‘Agri’ S.S. Krishnamoorthy, after the Crime Branch-Criminal Investigation Department clarified that he had been included only as a witness and not as an accused in an abetment to suicide case booked against the former Minister.
Justice K. Kalyanasundaram disposed of the application after recording the statement. The case booked against Mr. Krishnamoorthy relates to the death of Agricultural Engineering Department Assistant Executive Engineer S. Muthukumarasamy who jumped in front of a speeding train in Tirunelveli on February 20 since he was reportedly pressurised to pay a bribe of Rs. 12.25 lakh.
