Handloom fair displays its ware

In a bid to engage weavers from across the country directly to prospective buyers, the Awadh Hathkargha Hastshilp Evam Gramodyog Samiti is conducting ‘CottonFab 2015’ exhibition and sale on the Gandhi Memorial Museum premises in the city.

As a part of the annual fair, a range of silk and cotton fabrics are on sale which include Chikankari from Awadh, Banarasi and Jamdani fabrics from Varanasi, Chanderi silk and cotton from Madhya Pradesh and Batik as and block printed dress materials from Ujjain.

Light fabrics such as Ikat, Kalamkari and Pochampalli, which are available as running materials as well as salwar sets and saris, are also available. Apart from saris, kurtas and dress materials, a range of home furnishings such as carpets, rugs, doormats, bedspreads, curtains and cushion covers are also on sale. The exhibition will go on till November 1 and is open to the public from 10.30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
