Sri Lankan Tamil fisherman A. Mariyadoss’s 10-month-long-battle to return home, after Rameswaram fishermen rescued him when he was battling for life on the high seas in December 2017, drew to a close, with the Tamil Nadu government ordering that he can be sent to his homeland.

P. Senthilkumar, Principal Secretary, Public (SC) Department, in his order dated October 11, has directed Collector K. Veera Raghava Rao to “release” and repatriate the fisherman to his homeland and send a report on the action taken to the government, early.

Mr. Senthilkumar asked the Collector to take necessary action.
