In a relief to students, Tamil Nadu Governor K Rosaiah has issued a special order allowing the Madurai Kamaraj University to provide degree certificates in the absence of its Vice-Chancellor, a post lying vacant for more than three months.

“The Governor’s communication has been received. Now we can give certificates to the students,” Registrar-in-Charge M.Rajiakodi said on Wednesday.

The issue of degree certificates had been delayed as the post of Vice-Chancellor has been remaining vacant for more than three months.

As per the order of the Governor, who is also the Chancellor of the university, Principal Higher Education Secretary R. Kannan, is now in-charge of the routine administration and he could sign the certificates.

The regular convocation would take after new Vice Chancellor was appointed, officials said.
