Four members of a family, including A. Balaji, 35, son of former State Election Commissioner S. Ayyar, were injured when the car in which they were travelling hit a truck from behind on Madurai-Thoothukudi highway at Pandalgudi on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said that the family members were going to visit their family temple near Thoothukudi when the accident occurred. Mr. Balaji’s wife Tamil Selvi, 30, and their children Anushka, 7, and Jeyachithra, 3, were the others who were injured. The car was driven by a driver, Sekar.
The injured were admitted to a private hospital in Madurai. Pandalgudi police are investigating.
