Four people, who were injured in the violence and police firing during the anti-Sterlite protest in Thoothukudi on Tuesday, have been referred and admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital.

The first person, Rajalingam, aged 32, was referred on Friday night for a surgery. Hospital sources said that the remaining three were referred on Saturday.

D. Maruthupandian, Dean, GRH, said Mr. Rajalingam, who had sustained a bullet injury, had a foreign particle to be removed from near his neck. “The surgery was successfully done and his condition is stable now,” he said.

Stating that the condition of none of the four people was critical, he, however, said that at least one more person might need a surgery. The four admitted to GRH included a teenager, according to hospital sources.
