Footwear was hurled towards the dais from which Makkal Needhi Maiam president Kamal Haasan was addressing a public meeting at Tirupparankundram on Wednesday night. However, the footwear did not come anywhere close to the dais.

Police said that four chappals were thrown from the crowd far away from the dais and all of them landed among the crowd. The city police picked up 11 persons belonging to the BJP and Hanuman Sena, according to a police source.

Though there was some commotion among a section of the crowd, the meeting went on without any hindrance, the police added.
