Five die in Salem, Theni

They were undergoing treatment

Four persons, including two young boys, died on Thursday while undergoing treatment for suspected dengue at the government hospital here.

Eight-year-old Kavi Anand, son of Palanisamy of Mecheri, who initially was treated by a private doctor, was admitted to the Government Mohan Kumaramangalam Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed on Thursday.

Swetha,14, daughter of Suresh of Uthandikadu village near Edappadi; Maheswari, 28, wife of Vijayan of Edappadi, and six-year-old Boopathi, son of Govindan of Kannankurichi in the city, all undergoing treatment at the medical college hospital, also succumbed on Thursday.

Meanwhile, even as the anti-dengue awareness campaign is in full swing in Theni, a 12-year-old girl reportedly died of dengue in on Thursday.
